Winter Storm Information
The Street Maintenance Division is preparing to respond to the approaching winter storm. A crew will be standing by, in case the storm exceeds the predictions. According to the National Weather Service, we can "expect scattered rain showers and breezy conditions today. By this evening, more widespread rain will develop and spread east, transitioning to snow in the mountains by early Wednesday. Light snow accumulations are likely by Wednesday morning above 6000 feet, which may lead to icy road conditions. Fair and mild weather returns Thursday through next weekend."
Residents are reminded to prepare today for possible unfavorable road conditions late tonight through tomorrow night. Avoid any unnecessary driving. Per City Code, snow removal on sidewalks is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner.
Streets are plowed in order of priority, with major roads first, and these priority streets are plowed continuously until they remain passable for public safety vehicles and other traffic. This means that depending on the storm's duration and intensity, residential (local) streets may not be plowed for a day or two after the storm has ended.
