At this time streets City wide are icy, and some have areas that are snow packed. Street Maintenance crews are working to clear and treat ice and snowpack on the arterial and collector streets. If you don’t have to travel this morning please don’t. Roads are hazardous and driving will be very slow and slick. If you must travel, do so with extreme caution. Allow for extra driving time, use caution when approaching intersections, and always leave at least six car lengths between you and vehicles ahead of you.
Street Maintenance will continue to work on the arterial and collector streets until all have been cleared and treated as needed before working their way into the minor collectors and local residential streets. As always, we ask that you stay at least 100 feet behind the plow trucks, and do not attempt to pass a plow when it is actively plowing and spreading material.
Current forecasts are indicating gradually clearing skies today with high temperatures in the mid 30’s. While this will help to improve road conditions, please continue to drive with caution as ice will still be present in some areas. As always, we thank you for your continued cooperation and patience during these winter storm events, particularly with the last couple of systems being so unpredictable.
Brian Scott, Street Maintenance Superintendent
