Recreation Services 2016 Summer Newsletter
The Summer 2016 Recreation Services Newsletter is available online. The newsletter contains information about Open Space, Trails and Lakes, Sports Leagues, and other opportunities available to residents and visitors. You can also find information about how to volunteer. Headlining this issue is the new Dog Park volunteer group:
For about seven years, dog park user Brooke Wolterstorff could frequently be found at the old dog park taking out the trash cans. Occasionally, another dog park user would lend a helping hand. A week prior to the new park's Grand Opening on December 10, 2014, the first "friends" meeting to organize an "official" volunteer group to help maintain the park took place. The new group was formed under the Recreation Services Department with Kelly Tolbert as their volunteer coordinator. Every Monday morning between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. the park is closed so that the new volunteers and their dogs can lend a hand and clean up unfettered. Their participation in helping to keep the park clean is appreciated, especially since visits to the park have more than tripled since the renovation.
