National Night Out Kickoff Event at Courthouse Plaza – Friday July 24
Area residents are invited to a National Night Out kickoff event, Friday, July 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the north end of the Courthouse Plaza.
Informational materials on safety, home security and fire prevention will be available for community Block Watch groups provided by law enforcement from Prescott, Chino Valley, Yavapai County, Prescott Valley and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
The event will also feature the band “Road One South” in conjunction with the Downtown Summer Concert Series.
The event is a prelude to National Night Out, held this year on August 4, where neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.
“National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live,” said Prescott Police Chief Jerald Monahan.
“Studies show that when neighborhoods have a strong sense of community and participate in crime prevention programs, their residents are less likely to become victims of crimes. National Night Out is a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together with a common goal.”
