Morning Plow and Road Conditions Update February 26, 2023 and Approaching Storm Wednesday March 1st, 2023
Good morning all,
At this time Street Maintenance crews are working to clear the last of the main arterial streets and will be working their way in the secondary and minor collector streets and, then on to the local residential streets. Please keep in mind that these streets will remain wet and possibly icy in some areas throughout the morning and into early afternoon. Crews will continue to revisit the mains and secondary’s as needed to treat icy spots.
Forecasts are indicating a little more snowfall this morning with improving conditions this afternoon. Street Maintenance will have a second snow crew on duty at noon today to continue with, what we hope to be, mop-up operations in the residential areas.
The National Weather Service, (NWS), is tracking yet another winter storm system forecast to begin impacting the area late Tuesday, and continuing through late Wednesday night. Early indications are that this storm could bring heavy snow, particularly from mid-day Wednesday through Wednesday night, tapering off early Thursday morning, with estimated snow totals in the 6-8 inch range in the grater Prescott area. Additionally this storm will leave very cold temperatures in its wake, forecast in the mid-teens for Thursday morning.
As with any winter storm, we ask that if you must travel, please do so with an extra amount of caution. You should expect to encounter winter weather road conditions throughout the rest of the day today, as well as for tomorrow morning’s commute.
As always we would like to thank all of our residents and visitors for their continued patience and cooperation during this extended series of winter weather events, and remember to please drive safely.
Brian Scott, Street Maintenance Superintendent
