Mayor and City Manager to host Town Hall Meeting to discuss PSPRS Saturday, February 4, 10 a.m. at the Adult Center
Prescott Mayor Harry Oberg will host a town-hall style meeting, along with City Manager Michael Lamar, and Leonard Gilroy, Director of Government Reform for the Reason Foundation. The meeting will take place on Saturday, February 4 at 10 a.m. at the Adult Center, 1280 E. Rosser Street. Citizens and stakeholders are invited to attend.
Mayor Oberg will discuss the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) and the projected shortfall in funding pensions for police and firefighters. Mr. Gilroy will review pension reforms which were enacted by the State last year, including Senate Bill 1428 which makes significant changes to PSPRS in the State of Arizona. He will also review Proposition 124, a companion to SB 1428 that was passed by Arizona voters last May. Mr. Lamar will discuss the City’s steps to review and update City service models.
“PSPRS is what I call the ‘Elephant In the Room’,” said Mayor Oberg. “We want to share what we know, and hear from our constituents on this important topic”.
