Friends of the Prescott Public Library Honor Volunteers
On April 10, Friends of the Prescott Public Library held a luncheon to honor 135 volunteers who collectively provided more than 15,000 hours of services to the library in 2014.
A total of 97 volunteers and their guests attended the luncheon. Those with five years of service or more received certificates of appreciation.
"The longest-serving volunteers at the library have donated their time for 33 years," said Martha Baden, Library Manager. "Each year, library employees choose a Volunteer of the Year, and this year's recipient was Harry Vedvik."
Among other duties, library volunteers assist with check-in and check-out of books, repair of items, provide program support, shelve collection materials, and manage the book sale.
"Without the assistance of their time and effort, the Prescott Public Library would not be able to provide the hours or level of service currently available to the public," Baden added.
