City of Prescott Statement Regarding Anticipated Snow Storm

The City of Prescott is gearing up for what appears to be the largest winter storm of the season.   Snow is expected to start tonight, with accumulations of 3-5 inches overnight, then major additional accumulations tomorrow.  Snow is expected to continue through Friday.

The City urges citizens who do not have to travel during or immediately following the snow event, to stay off the roads, to allow emergency services and plows to do their jobs. If you must travel, please allow plenty of extra time and exercise extreme caution.

City Snow Removal Efforts

City Public Works personnel are currently on duty, on 12 hour shifts.  They will be assisted by Recreation Services staff as well.  The city has 16 plows, six backhoes, and will be renting dump trucks for snow removal.

Plowing efforts will concentrate on major roads first.  Once those are cleared safely, work will begin on secondary streets.   We ask that the public be patient, as we cannot estimate how long it will take to fully clear streets following such a large snowfall.

Fire Department will work with Lifeline to make sure that vehicles are outfitted properly, allowing for appropriate emergency response as needed.
