City Council
The Prescott City Council is the city’s legislative body. These seven people oversee the operations of city government and set policy by approving programs, appropriating funds, enacting laws and appointing the City Manager and other officers such as the City Attorney, City Clerk and City Judge. Prescott’s Mayor and City Council are elected at large. The Mayor serves a two-year term and Council members serve overlapping four-year terms.
City Council activities include responding to your questions, concerns and comments; preparing for Council and committee meetings; and attending civic dedications and fundraisers. City Council members also are called to chair or serve on various citizen committees; represent the city on boards or committees of county, state or intergovernmental associations; and speak to community service organizations, neighborhood associations and the Chamber of Commerce. Agendas are posted at both sets of doors at City Hall as well as the city’s website.
City Council holds their regularly scheduled Council meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Each meeting day will consist of a 1:00 pm(Time is subject to change) Study Session, and a 3:00 pm Voting Session. Additional special meetings may be called as needed. The meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located at 201 South Cortez Street.

Action Taken
Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes, action taken at meetings will be posted on the respective Agenda page within three working days of the meeting. Approved minutes of the Prescott City Council will be posted within two days of their approval. Minutes of other commissions, boards, etc. will be posted as they become available, and are provided as a courtesy to the public.
City Facility Naming Policy
Citizens interested in having Council review and evaluate a request for naming of any buildings, facilities, trails or other property owned by the city shall submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office. The 30-day comment period for the renaming of “No Name Creek” to “Elisabeth Creek” is open through Friday, April 14th at 5 pm, Council will consider taking action on this request at the Tuesday, April 25th Voting Meeting. All comments should be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office at city.clerk@prescott-az.gov
