Prescott’s legislative body consists of one Mayor and six City council Members who are elected at large. The Mayor serves a two-year term and Council Members serve overlapping four-year terms.

To be eligible to vote in a City of Prescott Election:
Based on the Unofficial City of Prescott Election Results provided to the City Clerk’s Office by the County Election Department at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6 both Proposition482 (Home Rule) and Proposition484 (Open Space) have been passed by voters. And, in calculating a majority of valid ballots cast Mayoral Candidate Cathey Rusing has been duly elected. None of the five candidates for Council reached the majority calculation number to be considered duly elected at this Primary Election. This number is 8,809 and is calculated as 50%+1 of the total number of valid ballots cast. The City Council will approve the final unofficial numbers and canvass for the Primary Election at the Tuesday, August 26 Voting Meeting.”
At the June 24, 2025 Voting Meeting, Council adopted Resolution No. 2025-1917 placing Proposition 485 “Utility Franchise Election” on the General Election Ballot.
The Mayor and Council Members shall be qualified electors of the city three (3) years prior to the primary Election. A qualified elector of the city is defined as a person whose name appears on the Yavapai County voter registration roles in a precinct of the City of Prescott for preceding elections or who has subsequently registered in a Prescott precinct and is otherwise qualified.
