Minor Home Repair Program
City of Prescott Launches “Prescott Minor Home Repair Program”
Funds will help with repairs under $5,000
Beginning June 14, 2022, Prescott residents can apply for minor home repair funds through the new Prescott Minor Home Repair Program (MHRP). The program was created to help individuals and families maintain safe and stable housing in the City.
Prescott MHRP funding is made possible by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). The funding will be distributed via the Prescott Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The Chamber MHRP Coordinator will act as a project manager for low-income home owners as they navigate making minor repairs on their homes.
Funds will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
Eligible Individuals
The Prescott MHRP program can provide up to $5,000 in minor home repairs. To qualify, individuals must: 1) be residents of Prescott, AZ 2) the home must be owner-occupied and a primary residence 3) Individuals and families must meet federal income guidelines; the maximum income to receive this funding is: $35,750 for a family of one and that rate increases with the size of the family.
Types of Eligible Projects
1). Electrical Hazards
2). Lead Based Paint Abatement, Mold Abatement, Asbestos Abatement
3). Accessibility Improvements – such as: Grab Bars, Hand Railings, Accessible Toilets, Steps and Sidewalks, Ramp Construction
4). Heating, Plumbing and Cooling Repairs
5). Fire Prevention (Sprinklers, Smoke Detectors), Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Ineligible Projects
1). New Roofs
2). Aesthetic improvements such as painting (Unless it is part of a lead abatement / mold abatement project)
3). Internal Remodels
4). Expansions
5). Repairs to properties which are not the primary home of the owner or are vacation rentals
