5th Year Remembrance in Honor of GMIHC Planned for June 30, 2018

The City of Prescott will offer tribute to the fallen Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew (GMIHC) on Saturday June 30, 2018.  The event will take place on a stage located at the intersection of Goodwin and Montezuma Streets.

The remembrance will begin with the posting of the colors and pledge of allegiance at approximately 4:20 p.m. Following brief remarks offered by the Fire Chief Dennis Light, the crew names will be read by Patrick McCarty former GMIHC crew member and Fire Engineer with Prescott Fire Department.  Following the reading of all names, a memorial bell will be rung 19 times to honor each of the fallen promptly at 4:42pm, to coincide with the precise time of the tragedy. Remarks will then be offered by Mayor Greg Mengarelli.

All are welcome and encouraged to come out and take part in this continuation of our healing that’s transpired over the past five years.

The public is also encouraged to visit the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshots Learning and Tribute Center.  There will be a public opening on Friday, June 29 at 12 noon.  The Center is located inside the Prescott Gateway Mall.  For more information, go to Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning and Tribute Center on their  Facebook page.
