Yavapai College Performance Hall
Composers the world over have been driven to create orchestral music out of their familiar folk tunes. In his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, Astor Piazzolla paints an adventurous impression of the Argentinian Capital through a four-tango composition. Florence Price, the first female African American composer to have a composition performed by a major orchestra, crafted her First Symphony with inspiration from spiritual melodies, folk song and church music. The Phoenix Symphony, featuring Valley favorite Giora Schmidt on violin, is honored to present these unique contributions of Piazzolla and Price.
