Acker Park

Acker Park consists of approximately 80 acres of natural parkland near downtown Prescott with access from 421 S. Virginia St., Penn St./Eastwood, Autumn Breeze (in the Foothills subdivision) and S. Washington. The latter has limited parking and is best suited for walk-ins.

Acker Park is now the location for many geocaching sites for visitors to find.

  • Restroom with full wrap mural depicting the history of the land, Mr. Acker and the nature to be found there

In 1996, Friends of J.S. Acker Park adopted Acker Park and have been instrumental in partnering with The City of Prescott to provide funds, do improvements and maintenance.


National Public Lands Day Event

Put on your party hat and join us at J.S. Acker Memorial park for a day of discovery, learning and fun.

The Friends of JS Acker partnering with Unity of Prescott will be throwing a community birthday party in recognition of the 20th anniversary of the vote date that established this 80 acre open space park in 1995. Our event which happily coincides with National Public Lands Day will be held on September 26, 2015.

Two bird walks with Audubon and Eric Moore of Jay's Bird Barn starts off the day - space limited. A series of three morning guided natural history hikes on the half hour will start at 8:30 a.m. supported by the Highlands Center for Natural History. There will also be a youth nature Discovery Trail Walk at 10 am.

9:30 am Discover the Circle Trail! talk by Nigel Reynolds Followed by the fun high-spirited In Folk-Us trio at 10 a.m. at the amphitheater.

Activities will be followed by a short program "Past, Present and Future Perfect Park" at 11 a.m. to highlight our accomplishments and set the stage for a bright future at Acker Memorial Park. The celebration will conclude with light refreshments and cake.
