Wildland Firefighter Statue Moved to Prescott Fire Station 71

Thursday, January 30, 2014

The Wildland Firefighter Statue donated to the City of Prescott by the Wildland Firefighter Foundation has been moved from Fire Station 7 to Fire Station 71 located at 333 White Spar Road to enhance its accessibility and visibility for the public. The statue was donated to the City of Prescott to honor the 19 fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots.

Prescott Fire Station 71 is shared by the Prescott Fire Department and Prescott National Forest Fire Engine 930. Prescott National Forest fire leadership agreed that the station is the perfect location to memorialize the fallen firefighters. The location also has plenty of parking and the station is already set up for visitors who come to see firsthand old and new fire department memorabilia

"Fire Station 71 is an ideal location that represents our partnership with the Prescott National Forest and the sense of loss shared by the entire firefighting community," said Interim Fire Chief Eric Kriwer. "We are extremely grateful to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation for this statue that represents not only the legacy of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, but all wildland firefighters who work tirelessly to protect us."
