Assistant City Attorney and Marine Veteran Hired

The City of Prescott City Attorney's Office recently hired Cody Johnson for the position of Assistant City Attorney. Johnson will begin his new position with the City on November 12, 2013.
At age 17, Johnson enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He transferred to a Light Armored Reconnaissance Unit and deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Japan, Australia and Philippines. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant/E5 in 2005. Cody also owned a small business which provided home inspections.
Johnson graduated from Ashford University with a B.A. in organizational management and graduated from Barry University School of Law with a Juris Doctor Degree. He was admitted to the Arizona State Bar of Arizona in 2011.
Johnson's legal career began by practicing civil litigation at the Vakula Law firm in Prescott. He was a Prosecutor with the Yavapai County Attorney's Office and was awarded the "Yavapai County Misdemeanor Prosecutor of the Year Award" for 2012-2013.
The City was a finalist for the 2013 Freedom award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The City has been recognized with six awards from ESGR over the last few years.
