Pavement work on Sheldon Street begins May 5th

Friday, May 03, 2013

The City of Prescott Pavement Rehabilitation Project is set to begin downtown. Crews are preparing to repair and replace deteriorated asphalt pavement along sections of Sheldon Street, Marina Street, Pleasant Street, Whipple Street, Ruth Street, and Iron Springs Road.

Construction activity and work hours will vary along each section of roadway, with work occurring during nighttime or daytime hours to minimize impacts to the community, business owners, and the traveling public as traffic levels drop dramatically at night. Work will begin Sunday, May 5 on Sheldon Street and will occur Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Due to multiple work zones and varying construction activity, the City of Prescott encourages people to visit for up-to-date project information. To receive regular eNews updates or reach a project team member, email or call the Project Hotline at 541-7825.

Motorists may encounter turning restrictions, narrow lanes, and rough roads while driving through the project areas. Please remain alert for flaggers in the work zone, and allow for extra time to get through these areas.

The project is expected to be completed in August. Once complete, the improvements will allow for a smoother, quieter ride that will serve the community well into the future. This work is highly weather dependent and subject to change.

Please note: In the event of equipment failure or inclement weather, the work schedule may be altered or suspended without notice.
