Library Volunteers Recognized
Thursday, May 02, 2013
On April 30, 2013 the City of Prescott and Friends of the Prescott Public Library held an appreciation luncheon to honor library volunteers who generously donate their time to the Prescott Public Library. The event honored 135 volunteers that provided more than 15,000 hours of services at the library in 2012.
Ninety-seven (97) volunteers and their guests attended the luncheon, and those volunteers with 5 years of service or more were awarded certificates of appreciation. The longest serving volunteers at the library have donated their time for 30 years. Each year, library employees choose a Volunteer of the Year, and this year's recipient was Edi Taylor-Richards.
Library volunteers assist with check-in and check-out of books, staff the reference desk, provide program support, shelve collection materials, manage the book sale, and much more. Without the assistance of their time and effort the Prescott Public Library would not be able to provide the hours or level of service currently available to the public.
Prescott is fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers who provide their time and talents to benefit a variety of City services.
