PRESCOTT, AZ (March 1, 2013) - Martha Baden, Library Manager, Public Services, at the Prescott Public Library, was one of 24 selected from 160 applicants to attend Public Library Association (PLA) Leadership Academy March 4-8, 2013, in Chicago. The cost of the Academy has been waived, and all travelling expenses will be paid by a Continuing Education Scholarship through the Arizona State Library.
Developed with support from an Institute of Museum and Library Services planning grant, the PLA Leadership Academy is a leadership training model pilot project that aides libraries in their efforts to advance community goals by serving as active change agents. Designed by the PLA Leadership Task Force with the assistance of ICMA and Adam Goodman, director of the Center for Leadership, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, the curriculum will build on PLA's previous leadership training initiatives.
This is a super opportunity for Prescott," said Baden. "We want the library to continue to be responsive to community needs, and this academy is all about forging lasting partnerships to do just that. I'm honored by the invitation to participate, and I'm also really proud to be representing such a great city."
