Tuesday, January 15, 2013
In its second year, the New Year's Eve Boot Drop in downtown Prescott brought thousands of visitors, and resulted in a significant increase in overnight occupancy. Last year the rate was approximately 25 percent, while this year resulted in an occupancy rate of 68 percent.
"Lodging revenue last year for this same event brought in $34,522 and this year it went to $115,911. That's remarkable. It's clear that this event is getting more and more popular," said Don Prince, Tourism Director. He added that media coverage on the event helped get the word out to party goers in the Phoenix and Prescott valleys.
