PD releases speed enforcement detail results
Friday, June 15, 2012
The Prescott Police Department Traffic Safety Section recently conducted a speed enforcement detail on State Route 69. The detail was funded by a grant through the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and was primarily aimed at speed and aggressive driver violations.
In total, four officers participated in a four-hour detail on June 7 in which forty-two traffic stops were conducted; thirty-four citations for speeding were issued; along with twenty-seven other violations cited. According to police spokesman Ken Morley, one stop led to the arrest of a twenty-four year old Prescott man for DUI drugs, possession of prescription only drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia when he was stopped for speed and exhibited signs of impairment.
The Prescott Police Department will continue to conduct speed enforcement specific details and urges drivers to make responsible choices while driving.
