Pavement work scheduled on SR's 69 & 89a

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be working to seal pavement cracks on State Route 69 today through Friday (Feb. 24). Work is being performed south of State Route 169 between mileposts 281-278 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures during work hours and should plan ahead. Minimal delays are expected.

Clearly marked detour signage will be in place each day to direct traffic around the work zone. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT will also apply a seal coat to the pavement on State Route 89A from Larry Caldwell Drive to Granite Dells Parkway today (Feb. 22) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The seal coat will prevent further deterioration of the pavement until the roadway is paved with a new layer of rubberized asphalt this spring. The speed limit through the work zone will be reduced to 45 mph.

Crews will apply the seal coat to one lane of the roadway each direction during work hours. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone. Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible.
