Prescott Center for the Arts: STAGE TOO 219 Cortez (behind and next to Peregrine Books, in the alley)
Performed by John Slade July 26 7:30pm & 26 & 27 at 2pm in Stage Too Based in part on Whitman's 1870s Chautauqua Tent Circuit lectures, and drawn from his poems, articles, and documented remarks, "I Sing Walt Whitman" celebrates his life, his poetry, and his startlingly modern worldview. Whitman considered Leaves of Grass a new Bible, and his poetry takes on new vitality set in a folk and gospel-music landscape. That's right. In this incarnation, Walt actually sings. You're invited to explore this link http://slademan.com/evolutionaries/ to read more about the show, see a short video clip, and read the endorsements at the end proclaiming Brother Walt is back in the zeitgeist.
