THE PRESCOTT OPRY
Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM
ELKS THEATER 117 GURLEY, PRESCOTT, AZ 86301
Prescott Opry General Manager Ed Gary says: For all those dynamic Country Artists who achieve National fame, there are thousands more who become regional or local stars. It has been our pleasure to bring a number of those talented performers to the beautifully restored Elks Theater over the past 20 months. February's performance is going to be another fantastic show that will be jam-packed with unbelievable talent for your enjoyment. What better way to spend a Valentine's Eve with someone special than to bring them to our February show? Here's what we have coming up on February 13, 2014!
MELISSA RUFFNER The Prescott Opry is pleased to once again welcome back to our stage The Valentine State's Historian, Melissa Ruffner. One of Prescott's best kept secrets and a Docent at the beautifully restored Elks Theater, Ms. Ruffner will share with our audience the history behind how Arizona became known as the VALENTINE STATE.
THREE WHEEL DRIVE This legendary powerhouse of talent is a member of the GACWSMA Hall of Fame, inducted in 2009. Three Wheel Drive is a band formed in Decatur, Illinois in 1960 and moved to Arizona in 1970. They've played radio, TV and stage shows, for many years during which they have backed such Country Music stars as George Jones, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Buck Owens among many others. Since 1998 they have been the Official Tribute Band for the annual Marty Robbins Shows, Willcox, AZ in March and Sun City, AZ in September of each year. You are going to LOVE their award winning sound!
PAUL ROGERS A Native Arizonan, in his formative years Paul was a "bouncer" by trade for a short time where he'd work the club scene with his Bandleader brother, Dave Rogers. Paul would "work the door" until it was time to take the stage and sing the first two songs he learned: Walk on By and I Still Miss Someone. He hasn't stop singing since. Paul's own band has backed such nationally recognized Artists as Rose Maddox, Freddie Hart, Bobby Austin, Susan Raye, Buddy Owens, and Tommy Collins. Active in the Reno, NV music scene for many years, Paul & his band also opened up for Buck Owens.
KYLEE & COLE DRIESCHER If you have enjoyed the talented young artists we've featured in month's past, be prepared to be "knocked out!" by this dynamic brother and sister team. Kylee (17) and Cole (15) are both accomplished musicians. Kylee plays a mean upright bass and Cole has skills on the guitar that are well beyond his age. These Chino Valley High School students began their musical careers just a short 4 years ago as a way to honor their Grandpa's Dad, an avid guitar picker. Once you Kylee & Cole, you'll recognize immediately why their Great-Grandfather, and their music instructors Jerry Johnson & Kent Gugler, have every right to be proud of these talented young artists.
BRUSH ARBOR REVIVAL Always an audience favorite, the Prescott Opry's resident Bluegrass Gospel Band will be on hand to share their family friendly humor as they make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
