On July 31, the Arizona Department of Water Resources unveiled a draft of its long-overdue Fourth Management Plan (4MP) for the Prescott Active Management Area. The draft 4MP includes important historical data and information, conservation programs for water providers and ideas for reducing our overdraft. Is this our answer to achieving a sustainable water future?
Citizens Water Advocacy Group (CWAG) Board Member and Science Committee Chair John Zambrano will present âThe Fourth Management Plan and Safe Yield,â when he speaks to the Citizens Water Advocacy Group on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 882 Sunset in Prescott (two blocks behind True Value). He will describe the content of the draft 4MP, its limitations, and what our region needs to do to develop a plan to achieve safe yield.
Zambrano is a retired Environmental and Water Resources Professional Engineer. He spent his working career with a water resources consulting engineering firm in the New York City area and with the Division of Water of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. He serves on the Mayor of Prescottâs Water Conservation/Safe Yield Committee and is the author of several CWAG information bulletins.
