Prescott College’s Interpreting Nature through Art and Photography Class presents Illuminance, an art extravaganza including a photo slideshow, sketches, music, paintings, puns, and more! This presentation will take place on December 7, 2013, at the Prescott College Crossroads Center, 220 Grove Avenue. The reception will begin at 4 pm, and the slideshow will start at 5 pm. After the slideshow, the students will be free to mingle and talk about their artwork on display. For over a fifth of a century, Prof. Walt Anderson’s Interpreting Nature through Art and Photography class has been hosting this show as an opportunity for students to exhibit their work. This performance is free to the public, and refreshments will be provided. With focus on local landscapes, Walt Anderson has taken his class to various locations, including the sites of the Doce and Yarnell fires, Granite Mountain, a prescribed burn near Thumb Butte, the Upper Verde River, and the Senator Mine in the Bradshaws. The class has chosen the theme Illuminance to recognize the complexity of local ecosystems and to shed light on the process of recovery in the region.
