Isolation or Inclusion: State Forum on Developmental Disabilities
Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM
Prescott Resort & Conference Center, 1500 Highway 69, Prescott
Thousands of Arizonans with developmental disabilities (DD) face exclusionary practices in day-to-day living that have stubbornly persisted, despite decades of efforts to combat them.
Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University recently met with some of these individuals to hear about their hopes and dreams and how everyday barriers impact their lives. Many said that exclusion – and a resulting sense of alienation – has become the norm. But others have found creative ways to achieve the kind of inclusion they want.
The sessions, sponsored by the Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, reaffirmed that including more voices from people with DD will help us all in finding innovative solutions to difficult policy issues.
Please RSVP and join the ongoing discussion in your area to help reverse the trend of exclusion. Hors d'oeuves and light beverages will be served at the event.
