Winter Walks: Connecting with Nature During the Silent Season
Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Highlands Center for Natural History - 1375 S. Walker Rd., Prescott
Meeting bi-weekly at the Highlands Center for Natural History, the outings will consist of a 2-mile walk on trails that we will repeat each week to really get acquainted with this small swath of earth. Bird activity, trees, animal tracks, clouds and anything else that comes up is fair game as we attempt to find patterns and relationships in what we are observing. While not all trips are mandatory, it is recommended as we will be reviewing what we saw/heard on previous outings.
What to bring: warm clothes, snack/lunch, water, binoculars (extras will be available), field guides Join local birdwatcher/naturalist Zach Smith at the Highlands Center for a unique exploration of birds in winter, their voices, behaviors and how we can walk a little softer to enhance our (and the birds') experience.
Effective dates are December 15 and 29, and January 12 and 26. Free!
