Brad Malm Firefighter Fitness Walk/Run
Sunday, October 16, 2011
Old Firehouse Plaza - 220 W. Goodwin St., Prescott
The Prescott Basin Firefighter Wellness/Fitness Foundation put together this 2-mile walk and 5 and 10 K run to raise money to fund the area firefighter's fitness program as part of a national wellness and fitness initiative supported by the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA). This event is intended to raise awareness about the importance of health and wellness for all members of the community.
Heart attack is the leading cause of line of duty death to our nation's firefighters. The Brad Malm Firefighter Fitness Walk/Run is dedicated to and named for former Battalion Chief and 30-year member of the Prescott Fire Department, Brad Malm, who died of a massive heart attack just 15 months after retirement.
